What we do

Our main aim is to combat child poverty in Nepal.

Resolve International is celebrating Universal Children's Day 2012
by creating a new emphasis for our programmes.

Join us to combat child poverty in Nepal because it is one of the world's poorest countries.

Improving literacy in the poorest primary schools in Nepal is now our main focus.

Resolve International have decided to focus on  improved literacy in the Nepali language because it will reduce the drop out rate, encourage increased enrolment and provide a solid foundation for learning across all subjects.

  • Only 34% of the poorest people can read and write.
  • 50% of children who enrol at primary school in Nepal do not  complete their primary education.
  • Only 20% of Dalit children enrol at primary school.

This is quite a challenge and we need your help.

BOOKS and PENCILS
£4 will provide 12 books, pens and pencils which increases the opportunity for children to learn to write.
We are currently working with partner NGOs in Nepal to support 3,000 children.
The project has helped:

  • Schools serving indigenous groups in some of the most deprived areas of the Terai in southern Nepal
  • Street children: tens of thousands of children live in orphanages and on the street.
  • Children from squatter camps. These are homeless people who live in shanty towns, often tents made from old blankets.

ONE BOOK - ONE CHILD
£2 will buy one reading book for one child. Help us create libraries in primary schools by providing one reading book to each child in the school.

IN-SERVICE LITERACY TRAINING FOR TEACHERS
Resolve International is developing in-service training for primary school teachers to improve their skills in child centred learning.
Only 71% of primary school teachers are fully qualified.
Rote learning is the method of choice, mainly because of the lack of resources. The school we have started to support only had chalkboards painted on the walls and no other teaching or learning resources.

EXAM FEES
The Government of Nepal provide free primary school places, but there are many additional costs. One of the most important costs in primary education is exam fees of about £10 per year. If a child cannot pay the exam fee and pass the exam, they cannot move to the next level.

You can support children in Nepal by text donating, just text the message: book04 £ (enter amount 1-10) and send to 70070,

you can even add gift aid to increase the amount we receive.

OUR HEALTH PROGRAMME

You can still contribute to our sanitation programme which is providing toilets to the poorest families, schools and women's groups.

13,000 children aged under five die each year from lack of clean water and sanitation and we will give an increased focus to providing sanitation and water in primary schools.

In the past
